Many criminals re-offend after they have been punished. Why do some people commit crimes after being punished, and what measures can be taken to tackle this problem? KAJy6
It can be seen that nowadays, more and more offenders tend to re-commit after they have been released. The reasons for this tendency are varied and there are a number of solutions that can be taken into consideration to deal with this issue. There are a host of reasons for this trend. The first reason is that crimes after record face discrimination. When employing new people, for example, not many companies are willing to recruit ex-prisoners for many reasons. According to BBC News, around half of the ex-offenders percentage have to engage in illegal activities such as shoplifting or pickpocketing in order to make a living. Another reason is that the punishment criminals receive may not be strong enough to make them fully aware of the consequences they put on society, which leads to a high increase in the crime rate. A number of solutions should be taken into account to solve this problem. Firstly, we should create a fully-equal atmosphere and treat fairly with them. Ex-prisoner should be given opportunities to be good people. Secondly, stricter punishment should be imposed on those who commit serious crimes such as robbery, violent attacks, or murder. These dangerous criminals should receive longer prison sentences. This could prevent them from re-offending after being released. In conclusion, there are various causes for this trend and appropriate steps need to be taken to address the problem. In general, one of the root causes of crime is a lack of education, so in order to deal with an increase in crime rate effectively, everyone should have a chance to access proper education.
