Many cities have serious problems with traffic congestion. What are the causes and solutions of this problem?

In many cities around the world, there is becoming more and more of traffic congestion. This situation has appeared due to the number of private cars and unsuitable roads. Public transport and separate lanes can be solutions for cities to reduce traffic jams. Many people use private cars which leads to the increasing number of such vehicles. As a consequence, the roads can be overwhelmed with such transport. In addition, on the most roads are laid inappropriate asphalt. Therefore, it can cause a large amount of traffic congestion or various accidents. For instance, all major high roads were broadened in India in 2004 with the purpose of declining the traffic jams. The first solution to the problem of traffic congestion is to enlarge the usage of public transport by citizens. Thus, there can be less of such jams if there is a small amount of private transport. Moreover, the government could provide separate stripes on the roads. Correspondingly, they can be set up for buses, bicycles and other vehicles. Thereupon, they can also establish strict rules to the movement on the roads. For example, the Delhi government have been reducing the number of cars on roads by providing successful limitations. To sum up, the traffic is mainly caused by overpopulation and private cars. If authorities set up new rules and encourage peopleto use public transport, consequently, the traffic jams will be declined in the future.
