It is shown that many criminals have a low level of education. Some people believe that the best way to reduce crime is to educate them in prison so that they can find a job after they leave prison. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

Many criminals have a low level of education. In order to control crime, some people hold the opinion that those people should be educated in prison. Then they can find a job after serving their time in prison. From my perspective, I disagree with this idea. It is important to give prisoners proper education in the jail. The reason is that criminals who are not well-educated will have the wrong idea that it is right to commit crimes. If they are not educated properly, they will probably commit more crimes. In comparison, if those people are well-educated in jail, they will realize that committing crimes is wrong and it will lead to serious consequences. They then will feel guilty and ashamed for what they have done and will not try to commit crimes again. However, people who have served their time are still likely to commit crimes when they re-enter society. This is because they cannot be well-accepted by society. For example, it is quite challenging for those people to find jobs. Many employers do not want to offer jobs to those people due to trust issues. They cannot guarantee whether those people will commit crimes again. Under such high pressure, those people have to commit crimes such as stealing or rubbing to make a living as they have no choice. To conclude, even though educating prisoners in prison can help crime decline, I still think this is not enough. In order to reduce crime efficiently, I think it is important to give people who commit crimes equal opportunities to work like other people when they re-enter the society. If this can be achieved, then crime can be successfully reduced.
