In the 21st century, contact between many different parts of the world has developed rapidly through air travel and telecommunications. Do the advantages of this outweighs the disadvantages? jp01X
The emergence of advanced technologies in this new era, has made communication and travels easier worldwide. I believe the benefits of these new development overshadows the risk and would detail my points in this essay.
To begin with, the pros of flight usage is safety and convenience for commuters. When people use aircraft as means of transportation it's faster and there are less likely to have troubles with accidents which is common on the highway. Admittedly, air crashes occur but it is much more limited when compared to road fatalities. Furthermore, with the advent of smartphones and computers, conveying information between nations happen in milliseconds regardless of the distance apart. For instance, transmitting documents through Gmail account can take just a few seconds in comparison to using postal services that reach it's destination in days.
On the contrary, the use of modern technologies has rendered most of the postal services obsolete and employees jobless. Take for instance the Nigerian postal services has downsized, due to the fact that most individuals have embraced the new trend of updated tools like text messages as against handwritten letters which takes longer time. Nevertheless, most of the retrenched workers have upskilled and gotten jobs in other industries.
In conclusion, I do feel that despite the job losses it will entail, the benefits in terms of safety and speed makes the use of air travels and computer systems a welcome development.
