In the past few years, a change has been observerd in family structures and roles. The roles and responsibilities of men, women and children are not the same as they used to be. In an era of forward thinking and growth, this is a positive development in our society. For many years, families had been pre-assigned with a structure and hierarchy. The fathers were considerd the head of the family, being the ones who earn and provide security, where as the mothers took care of the house hold and children. This of course had initially formd due to the society and working condition of the older day, where women were not offered many job opportunities as compared to men and the most logical role was for them to do domestic chores and look after kids. This gave rise to women feeling dominated for years. On the other had, men had the burden of ensuring financial stability, giving rise to an unbalaced and conflicted environment within thier homes. However, today the world is much more progressive. Women have equal opportunities as men and are equally capable of generating income. If woman can conduct the same duties as men, then there is no longer a need for either men or women to have a forced role in the family. This brings more flexibilities within homes, allowing them to choose their own roles which best matches their capabilities. This also gives rise to diversity and reduce the feeling of oppression or supremacy inside the households. Is'nt it better to have a family structure where everyone feels equally important and respected? Thus, we can conclude that changes in family structures can be benificial for the modern world as it promotes a more stability and understanding leading to happy and healthy relationships.
