In today’s society, sportsmen and entertainers are generally richer than professional workers such as doctors, nurses and teachers. This is due to the fact that these celebrities have a huge following and therefore can have multiple ways of income. In this essay, I exam the reason for this occurrence in some societies and give my opinion. The main reason why people working in entertainment and sport are better-off is because they are much more popular thus benefit from this celebrity status. Apart from their main job, many companies use their name and fame to advertise their products and in exchange pay them massively. For instance, well-known athletes have contracts with sporting brands to endorse their products. By contrast, professionals like doctors and teachers provide their service to a limited number of people hence, can only get paid accordingly. Celebrities earn great wealth through their hard work and efforts to prove themselves and face up to public scrutiny. This line of business can be very competitive. In order to make something of themselves and to stand out from the crowd, they have to have a combination of luck and talent. Additionally, famous people barely have a private life and are often dragged through the newspapers. These negative sides are considerate a price to pay for having a life under the spotlight. On the other hand, professionals like doctors and teachers are paid less but in comparison to famous people, have a luxury of enjoying work and private life separately. In conclusion, due to their great popularity, sportsmen and entertainers pay a big price in order to have wealthier and luxurious lifestyles. However, professional jobs also play an important role and they need to be respected.
