In many countries, mainly tourists, but not local people, visit museum and historical sites. Why does this happen, and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these place. NEWbm
In several parts of the world, the dominant visitors to museums are foreign tourists, and local residents only account for a minor part. From my perspective, there are several reasons leading to this situation, and many remedies should be taken to address this. In my opinion, the increasing number of travellers coming to museums is caused by several factors. One convincing ground is to widen their knowledge. Once visiting a city, the favourite destination for most tourists is museums, since this place is where ancient artefacts are stored and preserved. By visiting museums, travellers could not only discover about that region’s formation history but also learn about the origin of traditional culture there. In addition, some famous museums like Louvre, for instance, are the place in which renowned masterpieces are displayed. Therefore, tourists coming there could enjoy paintings by outstanding artists from previous centuries as well as find out about the historic development of art. Despite the aforementioned causes, I strongly think that authorities and each individual should together come up with solutions towards this phenomenon. Firstly, it is common knowledge that local residents are fed up with the artefacts in museums since there is almost no difference when visiting here. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government and museums' administration to change the way in which existing exhibits are displayed, like using audition guides to illustrate those historic antiques. Furthermore, local schools and kindergartens should encourage children and pupils to visit museums to broaden their horizons about the area they are living in. This could both boost the number of visits to museums and provide children with vital regional knowledge. In conclusion, there are many explanations for why most visitors to museums are tourists, and I firmly believe that a great variety of actions should be taken to increase the number of domestic people coming to this place.
