I got your email last Monday asking me for my advice about staying healthy. First, I'm so happy to hear that you got accepted to join the Healthy Life Program. This program is very interesting and useful. Are you planning to start it? These are some of my suggestions.
Firstly, you should have a balanced diet, which provides all kinds of important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to keep the body and mind strong and healthy. For example, you had better eat more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, and avoid fast food as well. In addition, you should not drink alcoholic beverages or soft drinks, such as beer, wine, coca-cola, etc because they are very harmful.
Secondly, doing exercise regularly is also a way to stay healthy because it helps you stronger, more active and prevents a lot of diseases. Besides, doing exercise can relieve stress and improve your mood as well. For instance, you can go for a walk, run, or swim every afternoon if you don't have enough time in the morning. Also, you can play sports or do yoga if you enjoy it.
Moreover, drinking enough water and staying hydrated is also one of the best ways to stay healthy. It's key in flushing out toxins and waste materials from the body so that your immune system is more effectively able to fight infections. I recommend that you aim to drink at least half of your body weight in ouches of water per day. As an example, if you weighed 170lbs, you'd be drinking 85 ounces of water minimum.
Last but not least, it's essential for you to get enough sleep. Sleep helps with stress management, but it also helps you stay motivated to move, gives you more energy, helps your metabolism stay regulated, and ultimately can also help with weight loss. On average, you need to get 6 – 8 hours of sleep per night.
