Health care should not be provided for free regardless of a person's income. The heath of a person is in their own hands and they should, therefore, be held accountable for that. Do you agree with this opinion?

It is frequently said that people should take responsibilities for their own health and the government shouldn’t provide free healthcare irrespective of citizen’s income. I certainly disagree with this notion. The paragraphs follows will support my statement. First, not all health issues are cause by bad eating habits or lack of exercise. Environmental factors obviously play a vital role in personal health. Due to the rapid development of modern cities. Air pollution cause by enormous fuel emissions from cars damage our breathing system. Furthermore, corporations earn considerable amount of money by damaging environment. Industrial waste pollute waters and soils, which poison animals and plants, affecting humans in an indirect way as well. In light of the fact that such incidents can not be taken precautions by individuals, authorities should protect their people from greedy companies by introducing legislation to reduce further emissions. Secondly, wars are still taking place in some countries, for instance, those in middle east. Civilians there are suffering from fear and severe poverty. Infrastructures that damaged by war limited the supply of food and clean water and eventually caused fatal diseases, spreading from locals to possibly the whole world. Although, there are obviously health problems, like smoking and drinking, that one should be held accountable for. Since governments and media have spent a vast sum of money and effort to warn citizens. To conclude, it is government’s responsibility to offer free health services to assist people in need. Like the director of PAHO once said, “Health is not a privilege, nor a commodity. It is a fundamental human right. ”
