Interestingly, I think not plenty of people tend to think of relationship between people from this angle since a relationship that supposed to be something altruistic and humanistic is far from impersonal and paid job. However, I tend to agree to this quote as friendship requires special traits of character, activities and time. First of all, friendship can be seen as a full-time job as it requires particular organization and planning. Scheduling time to watch a movie over a shared Zoom screen or in the cinema or go for a socially distanced, masked walk requires a level of effort, concentration and time. This time should be found in the schedule of both parties and also should be agreed to be spend in this way. Moreover, it might be not enough to see each other once a year so this time should be allocated on regular basis. Secondly, friendship as well as occupation requires special «skills» from people who involved in this kind of relationship. Undoubtedly, friend supposed to be supportive to help to cope with different kinds of difficulties that you can face from day to day. It should be also added that friend also must be tolerant which means that this person should respect for the rights or opinions of people not only around him but also with instant ones. Furthermore, friendship, as it implies the association of 2 or more people, is all about agreement and willingness to compromise if necessary. It does not mean that person should be submissive but if the situation demands they are to be ready to at least discuss everything and to make concessions. To sum up, friendship can be referred to as an occupation since it requires special efforts and time from people involved and assumes that friends have special qualities-skills that keep the friendship afloat.
