Food travels thousands of miles from producers to consumers. Some people think that it would be better for the environment and economy if people ate only the local food produced by farmers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The escalating usage of imported foods, which comes from thousand miles away, is causing many to propose the idea of using only local foods from local farmers which might have positive effects on both environment and economy. I completely concur with them for the following reasons. A considerable support for the proposed notion is that increasing demand for local food production would leads to higher requirement for producing more food which would be lucrative for local folks. As a result, there would be an increase in per capita income which is referred to as intensive economic growth. All of these wouldn’t happen unless with the aid of supporting local farmers with purchasing their products. Moreover, high demands for local foods, both vegetarians and animal products, would lead to an agricultural expansion which will make fundamental contribution to protecting the flora and fauna of local places. In this way we can stop environmental degradation; there would be less environmental problems like extinction of animals or rising rate of urbanization, which is necessary for posterities. By and large, much as high demand for different type of foods from different parts of world, especially for those people who have a diverse diet, is popular today, the impact of consuming local foods on both environment and economy of a country would make it to a better alternative for people. In my point of view it would be a great opportunity for local folks who need support.
