In my view, they can bring either or both recreational and educational values. It ups to individual interests and their purpose. In modern times, people have to work continually with high demand from seniors and have numerous anxieties about many aspects. Hence, when going home, they just want to seat in front of the television, then choose their favorite channels for relaxation. They do not even have enough energy and enthusiasm to patiently watch something that educates them. For people who need to alleviate the strain, entertaining films are the best option, educational movies are inappropriate in these cases. However, it is undeniable that education in movies is crucial, especially for children - whose cognition is developing fast. Movies act as instructors teaching the kids valuable life lessons, or on the flip side, they encourage bad habits. For example, kids that regularly watch educational cartoons have a tendency to treat people around them kindly. On the other hand, children approaching violent films are usually rude to others.
