Fewer and fewer children are willing to look after their parents as they get older these days. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

In this contemporary world, old parents are hardly catered by their own offsprings. It would definitely lessen the additional burden and expenditures of children. However, in my opinion, there are more limitations of this phenomenon entailing isolation, deaths and losing cultural and moral values. On the one side, the hectic schedule of modern human has made it impossible to look after the greying people at their home. Even if they try to maintain the balance between their work and family responsibilities, they fail to meet certain commitments. As a result, it would be a great relief for the youngsters to shed the responsibility of their parents and devote completely to their own life in their prime time. By opting this way, not only they can earn and save more, but could also provide a better life to their parents through shifting them to old age homes where they would be catered by the professionals elderly persons. Thus, it is efficient to do away with aged parents on monetary basis. On the other side, old age is the best opportunity for the children to repay the debt of their parents who gave them a life in this world. It is the crucial period for both parties to share their love and emotions. If not, then it may lead to grave consequences and deaths also. Many researchers too claim that care by one's own children in elderly age is more proficient in dealing ailments than treatment by professionals. Moreover, the void created on separation from own family members can not be fulfilled through materialistic things. On the top of that, ethical values and humanity will have a downward graph when children would left their parents in lurch. To conclude, although there are several monetary and individual advantages of not looking after one's parents in their later years, yet the negative repercussions on society and communities are unavoidable. Adequate measures should be taken in this regard to save our ethical culture.
