DICSUSS BOTH SIDES AND GIVE YOUR OPINION RmwdQ
Brain drain has become a common fact in developing countries like Sri Lanka in the present era. According to thinking of some individuals professionals must serve for the nation whereas, others in contrast at the opinion that all should have freedom to move where they chose to live. However, I as a person who received education within this country believe that every person has a duty to serve for the nation for some period.
Developing countries have invested in students by sometimes using public funds, in hope that they will work for the development of the country in return. Shortage of skilled employment in some specialized sectors will badly affect the quality of service. For an example of there are no qualified doctors in country ordinary citizens will have either to suffer without proper healthcare or to pay unreasonable cost to obtain services. On the other hand professionals must be grateful for providing them an opportunity to gain invaluable lifetime experience and training when they had no such experience but only the paper qualification.
However, every single person wish to have better quality of life in developed countries. The remuneration and retention allowances paid in developed countries are more attractive when comparing that of the developing country. Also qualified professionals demand for respect and dignity up to some extent, which sometime looked down and not voluntarily given by the society. Also it is difficult or sometimes impossible to find suitable job in consistence with the qualification and experience in some specialized areas. Therefore, migration of of qualified individuals is inevitable.
Brain drain due to migration leaves unfavourable impact in countries such as Sri Lanka. However, if the government and authorities provide attractive working environment with favourable wage to live a quality life style professionals will consider remaining in the country where they obtained the training. Moreover, the professionals also have a duty to open their own avenues to provide services to the nation with their expertise knowledge and skills. Also the same will open more opportunities for the people who has no such professional qualification.
