Media are the most popular and convenient methods for communicating information. There are many advantages as well as disadvantages of media which are used for communicating information. When considering various media types like comics, television, books, radio, films and theatres the most popular media stream in current society is the television. The combination of two words tele + vison depicts the idea that both acoustic and vision streams of transmitting information are used in this method. The major advantage of using the television is that the broadcasting company can transmit the information more accurately and also the audience can clearly understand the information both visually and acoustically in comparison to the other media like radio and books. Also televisions are widely available in any home even rural areas of the countries, thus anybody have easy access to the broadcasted information. But the major disadvantages of the television when communicating information are that the audience can be easily misled by using advertisements for marketing purposes. Specially the younger generation can be easily misled by using a celebrity for marketing advertisements. For an example, instant food is being marketed in television channels by using famous cricketers and the younger generation are addicted to consume those unhealthy foods. When comparing the other most popular media like radio and books, radio which is another efficient method of communicating information and people have easy access to this media stream. “Reading the books completes a man” is a popular saying in the society which clearly depicts that by reading books people can gain much more information about anything in the universe. The major disadvantage is for people who don’t have a good literacy. It can be difficult for them to read the books as well as to understand information contained in the books. In summary, the television is the most effective method of communicating information in the current technological world. But it is better if the broadcasting companies can promote the good and healthy things for the future generation’s betterment.
