Local park potentially changing to a car park

Dear Editor, I am writing to share my opinions on the potential closure of Ashfield Park next month. It would be tragic to see Ashfield Park being closed down because of the ignorance of the business. I believe that parks provide the best possible way to social distance, while allowing the elderly, families and friends to get fresh air in a uplifting environment. Changing the park to become a car park increases that togetherness with other people, which mushrooms the chances of getting the Corona Virus. The business is not taking this into account as they could be the cause of many people catching and in the worse case suffering from this dangerous disease. People are indulged by the greenery within the park and getting this fresh air would be good for health. Also, nature helps boost our overall mood and reduces stress and anxiety levels. Furthermore, it provides benefits long term including reducing the risk of developing chronic illnesses such as diabetes and obesity. Due to the plans of rebuilding the park to become a car park, it would annihilate the sense of fresh air and introduce more pollution destroying the planet. The idea of demolishing Ashfield Park for some additional parking space is not a well thought out move as kids will have no place to experience the outdoors games. Children will spend most of their childhood indoors playing video games and going on social media. Additionally, the elderly could not stroll around the park which will affect them physically and mentally which may potentially leading to depression and anxiety. If they need a car park that badly they should create underground parking which immediately resolves the issue without destroying the health and freedom of the local community.
