t is natural to make mistakes in our everyday life. But what matters is how to learn from our errors. Children on the other hand are more succeptible to commit even the silliest of mistakes. Some may blame the parents for not teaching them right or some may choose target the children themselves.
Childhood is a sensitive phase in anyone's life. Some children might take a punishment as a means to correct themselves in future. But it is not necessary that every child reacts in the same way. For some even a small punishment can scar them for life. We all have had a thing or two we remember from our early days which still haunts us. These children are more prone to commit multiple but menial crimes a day. From stealing a classmates pencil out of jealousy to bullying a junior just for fun, everything constitutes a crime. The end result should not be to make the child miserable but to make them understand their fault. If we happen to punish children for every small task, they might disgust us instead of understanding where they went wrong. There might be cases where they repeat the same mistake again. But a delicate age such as this requires ample amount of paitence and maturity.
On the other hand, we have few people who want the parents to be punished for their children's mistake. Even though every family comes from a different background; I have never come across any parent who delibrately wants or teachs their child to commit a crime. They try to correct to their errors as much as them can but since they are kids, they are prone to repeat the mistakes all over again. This is natural and does not mean that they are bad parents or deserve punishment for the same. Punishing the parents will do no good but only harm their self esteem.
Hence, the point should not be to put a pin on who deserves to be punished but to make children realise their mistakes and how to avoid them in near future.
