Because of secondary sources such as books, movies, and the Internet, people can learn about a foreign culture without visiting a foreign country.

It is generally believed that people can obtain numerous foreign culture informations through books, movies and the internet without visiting other country. I strongly disagree with this view for the following reasons. First and foremost, people should visit other countries to learn about a foreign culture because books, movies, and the Internet can misrepresent a culture. It is well-known fact that some countries are concerned about their image abroad, so some of the cultural assets they produce may not represent life in that country in an accurate way. For example, a survey of tourist in the United States reported that foreign visitors to the country are surprised because there are many ordinary people unlike in the books and movies about America. This shows that even though there is a lot of information about all the countries of the world in books, movies and on the Internet, it is not always trustworthy. Moreover, visiting places directly is the only way to truly see how societies have changed. This is because societies are constantly changing, but information in books and movies cannot be changed once it is published. A visitor in a foreign country can see the history of the land and the people in real time. On the other hand, even though information can be collected from many different eras of a nation's history, experiencing the life of the people who have created that history adds a layer of depth that is beyond the range of information in books and movies. This shows that visiting a country can be a vivid experience that books and movies cannot replace. In conclusion, it is important to visit a country directly to obtain a complete picture of its people, custom and history. Therefore, there is no doubt that modern people should acknowledge that learning about a country through real-life experiences is better than just using books and movies.
