There is no gainsaying that much amount of tax payers money are spent on discovering the space. This essay will highlight merits and demerits of it. The major merit is that with the help of space exploration, the country can increase the power of the state's defense, since the protection of borders and the protection of the inhabitants of certain countries still occupies an important place in the internal political activities of any country. The space industry is closely related to military technology. Be that as it may, but at present, countries have to protect their territories, and primarily this is done with the help of space technologies, both airborne and ground-based. Very often, countries that do not have such technologies in their arsenal become raw material appendages of their more armed neighbors. However, no one knows, the outcome of studying outside of planetary life, it can turn into a waste of huge funds that could go to the study of something more useful, for example, improving the living standards of the population. The creation of spacecraft that can go into space requires huge financial investments, given that no one can promise success. Even Elon Musk, one of the most promising space engineers of our time, has lost a lot on his projects - and no one knows if he will be able to succeed during his life. To recapitulate briefly, space exploration can help a country become one of the most powerful states on our planet, however, spending such a huge amount can turn into a waste.
