I’ve watched and heard enough of this video and thought I’d give my two pence worth on the first guy who delivered his version of Philippine English. Well, I’m afraid that his Filipino accent does not hold water. Nice try though.
Firstly, it's not fair to stereotype a whole nation with a ballpark figure of 110 million people based on a few interactions with a particular Filipino. I just can’t stand his ingrained convictions and how he misrepresent the Filipino accent in social media are getting on my nerves. In addition, his prejudice against Filipino accent is unsound, on account on the fact that English is not our native language in the first place.
Turning to how this video made me feel, I cringed at his humour, it’s offensive actually. Clearly, this video was meant as a joke but it fell flat since the humor in it eluded me. To a large extent, the guy’s attempt to tell a joke rubs me up the wrong way.
