Inner-outer relationship in architecture

Performing arts buildings which have been constructed during the 21st century share similar architectural design approaches when evaluated by basic design methods. The attitude which ensure the interior and exterior integrity of the architectural design by the distinctive clarity of the structural facades of the performing arts architecture also emphasizes the art function of the building. Today, we see a pluralistic order on due to the circumstances and conditions such as economic, social, environmental, technological etc. The architects who have a lot to consider during design process may have been dragged into a confusion at this point. Handling the design methods in accordance with the correct language of architecture and classifying all the possibilities together within the framework of scientific rules might guide the architects during this design process. Performing arts buildings designed in the 21st century are now have an image which is more dynamic and productive because of the clearly seen relationship of art and architecture and developing technology. These structures show that it is possible to experience art through architecture by expressing the concepts and linear techniques used in art and architecture and get characterized by a unique attribution for performing arts. Today we see the concepts of “dynamism” and “rhythm” which are relatively used in architectural design also to highlight the structural character of this buildings. Architectural elements of performing arts buildings designed in the 21 century have been related with notes, nuances and dance movements in this research and it has been shown that the legibility of dynamism and rhythm concepts through architectural composition is possible. According to these effects the similar visual perception of both interior and exterior of the buildings have reveal the unity of architecture can be established depending on these concepts. In this context this paper aims to show inner-outer relationship in architecture constituted through “dynamism” and “rhythm” concepts, taking into consideration to art-architecture correlation. This study reveals the alliance and differences of the todays architectural projects of performing arts buildings through the method of Professor Bülent Özer’s study “A Systematic Approach Proposal to Planimetric Design in Architecture” which was invented during 1970’s. Ozer’s “12 Methods” named principle brought up a schematic language to the architectural design methods. This paper is focused on analysing the inner-outer relationship of nine performing arts buildings around the world from 21st Century through Ozer’s principles and show that the “12 Methods” is still used effectively by today's architecture.
