ARE YOUNG PEOPLE TOO UMMATURE TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS? QbPXx
Within our society, the idea that young adults are still mentally immature to make decisions in life is highly debated. However, how correct is this idea?
The difference between an older person and a young person is the experience of each one: while an older adult, who has already gone through various adversities, is more than prepared to make a reasonable and favourable decision in comparison to a young person, who is just beginning to know his environment in reality.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that every young person, over 18 years of age, has the right and freedom to make their own decisions, without the need for the authorization of their legal guardians.
And it is the decisions they make that are responsible for training young adults throughout life, with values such as responsibility, determination and commitment, necessary to continue facing the ups and downs of life.
In summarizing, certainly a young person is immature compared to an older person, but this is not a factor of insufficiency when making decisions. Each decision taken will be an essential step to forming a responsible adult.
