Eventhough there are certain abuses to this system i reckon it as the most important part to build a nation without poverty and crimes. the two major reason which i believe welfare programmes is needed are firstly many of the population require assistance to build themselves through welfare programs and secondly against crimes. To explain first and foremost is the peoples such as single mothers, disabled, sick who are unable to earn a wage may require welfare as an intial support. Eventhough they are unemployed they too have a right to get income and lead a happy life. Secondly, the basic start of crimes arises from the urge to need for money from poverty. By ensuring the support from government, through welfare programes these crime rates can be reduced to a certain extend. As we know fighting crime is more expensive than providing welfare and the wages of one policemen are 4 or 5 times higher than a dole pay. Despite the fact that certain people believe that people should look after themselves. They explained that welfare payments provided, creates dependency on others and they prefer it all the time. But payments are only provided to unemployed individual and only on a temporary basis. These critics also believe that it is the prime resbonsibility of victims family to provide assistance.
