With pressure on today's young people to succeed academically some people believe that non academic subjects should be removed from the syllabus so that children could concentrate wholly on academic subjects. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It would be wrong to say that academic subjects play a crucial role in achieving success in a vast majority of careers. Thus, it is obvious to think of the removal of non academic subjects from the curriculum so that, children can completely focus on academic subjects. Albeit, I disagree and in my opinion if it is done, it would have cascading effects on children. Arts, games, music, theater and other comprises of non academic subjects. Although, these subjects have no direct impact on careers like, law, engineering, and medicine, they prove to be stress busters. Some studies done by AIIMS institute suggests that students having hobbies from non academic subjects are less prone to stress, anxiety and depression. As, non academic subjects not only help in improving cognitive behavior, but also are a good source of entertainment. If a child is stress free, then only can he/she concentrate on his academic subjects in an efficient way. Secondly, as much as society need doctors, engineers and lawyers, it need cricketers, musicians and artists. Such professions help in satisfying society's' need for entertainment and spiritual connect. Imagine a world without non academic profession, it would be a world filled with sorrow, misery and anxiety. To make the long story short I would say that all the subjects are equally important for development of a Childs' brain. As much as we need Einstein and Newton, we need Da Vinci and Picasso. And, abundance of any will cause ruckus.
