Urban cities have always been places where a large number of people live. However, the population density in urban areas is increasing rapidly, leading to negative impacts on city life. This essay will show the reasons why the city is increasingly crowded as well as the solution to this problem. On the one hand, people move to cities in search of job opportunities. Most of the commercial centers, entertainment services, food complexes or large and small companies are concentrated in cities. These are all places that need an abundant labor force starting from simple manual labor jobs to complex jobs. Therefore, urban areas attract many people from the provinces or suburbs to migrate to the city to earn a living. According to a survey by the Kontrat Institute on the issue of free migration to find work in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on average, Ho Chi Minh City has about 200, 000 new workers each year, of which two thirds are immigrants from other places. On the other hand, traditional activities like farming need fewer workers nowadays. Along with the development of technology, modern machines gradually appeared and replaced human labor. If in the past, gardeners had to hire workers to water the plants every day, now, they just need to install an automatic watering system to solve that problem. The simple loss of farming jobs makes people forced to look for jobs in busy urban areas. However, the overpopulation in urban areas can cause some consequences on people's lives such as the cost of living higher than in rural areas, there is a gap between rich and poor, and there are problems like traffic congestion and crime. Therefore, the problem of increasingly crowded cities requires a certain solution. Firstly, the most radical way to deal with immigration is to reduce the distance between cities and surrounding areas. The government should create economic centers, industrial centers, and belts of satellite cities far from the center but with a quality close to the center to prevent the flow of people into urban areas. Once successfully creating developed, modern satellite cities with stable quality of life, working people will certainly not have to struggle in busy urban areas. Secondly, in developed urban areas, they do not use administrative measures to manage, but they apply high land use taxes to urban areas. That leads to those who have the qualifications and income to be able to live in the big city and metropolis. Those with less income will choose peripheral areas to live. This helps to reduce the load not only on the population but also the slums that are not safe for human life and safety. In conclusion, people have certain reasons to pursue a better life in the city. However that brings more negative effects than positive. On top of that, the government should manage these things tightly to minimize the negative impacts as much as possible.
