The graphs below show some trends in visits to the USA by overseas residents and visits overseas by US residents between 1992 and 2012. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The graphs below show some trends in visits to the USA by overseas residents and visits overseas by US residents between 1992 and 2012. 6q5lx
The line charts illustrate the number of visits to and from the US and how long people stayed during these over a period of 20 years. Overall, for both US citizens and foreign visitors, the number of visits rose steadily, while the average length of stay fell gradually from 1992 to 2012. It is clear from the first chart that the number of visits made by overseas students rose from 10 to 28 million visits, whereas the increase in the number of visits overseas by Americans was much greater. This figure started at 20 million in 1992 and increased threefold over the period, reaching 60 million in 2012. A deep analysis of the second chart reveals that Americans traveling abroad stayed for longer periods than foreigners coming to the US. A typical US resident stayed for 14 nights in 1992, compared to the average 12-night stay of an overseas resident. While both types of visitors stayed for an increasingly shorter amount of time, the decrease in overseas visitors’ length of stay was greater in the last 5 years, compared to that of Americans, with numbers falling by 3 and 2 nights correspondingly (= respectively). In conclusion, visits to and from the US became more frequent in the recorded period, but they tended to be shorter in duration.
