The given chart gives information about the number of prisoners in thousands in five countries in a 50 year period from 1930 to 1980. Overall, there was a considerable increase in the number of prisoners in Great Britain and the United States whereas the remaining countries experienced a downward trend in the figure for imprisonment. in addition, the United States recorded the highest statistics. in Great Britain, about 30 thousand people were imprisoned in 1930 and this figure went up to over 80000 prisoners in 1980. Meanwhile, the number of inmates in the United States in 1930 was three times as high as that for Britain, with exactly 100000 prisoners. After experiencing a slight decrease in 1970, the number of imprisoned people in the USA finished at approximately 135000 prisoners in 1980. Turning to the remaining countries, the number of inmates in Canada was the highest statistics in 1930, with 120000 people compared to just nearly 90000 prisoners after a 50 year period. Meanwhile, after a sharp decline in the figure for imprisonment in 1950, New Zealand recorded over 85000 prisoners in 1980. in addition, the lowest number of imprisoned people in 1980 was Australia, with roughly 50000 prisoners.
