The bar chart gives information about the proportion of teachers in six types of educational institutions in the UK in 2010 in terms of the gender. Overall, it can be clearly seen that female teachers prevailed in primary education, whereas male teachers were dominant at tertiary level.
As is shown in the chart, women made up a major portion of both nursery and primary teachers, (above 95% and over 90% respectively). However, the pattern for other levels of education is quite different. Students in college were taught by equal share of male and female teachers. Practically the same can be said about the situation both in secondary school and private training institute. The figures for women were a bit higher in secondary school - 55%, compared to 45% for men, while private training institute had more males who accounted for just over a half of the teaching staff. Interestingly, male teachers outnumbered female teachers in university, where the percentage of men was twice that for women.
