The given line chart compares the proportion of the workforce in the UK in five main different industries between two years, 1841 and 2001.
Overall, it is clearly seen from the graph that there were upward trends in two industries namely services and construction while the other, production, farming or fishing, and energy or water, had downward trends.
There was a rocket in the percentage of workforce, rising from 33% in 1841 to 81% in 2011. The figure became to be the highest among the five industries. Construction experienced a slight increase by 3%, from 5% in 1841 to 8% in 2011.
On the other hand, by 1841, the percentage of workforce in manufacturing was the first rank with 36% before dropped by 4 times in 2011, which was 9%. Similar to the manufacturing, the number of workforces in farming industry went down dramatically from 22% in 1841 to 1% in 2011, which was a significant change in this industry. Labors in the energy or water in dustry had a small change, from 3% to 1% in 1841 and 2011, respectively, which stayed unpopular during these two years.
