Technology machines replacing handwork

Technology is improving, opening the door to many new machines and gadgets, that do the housework previously done by hand. This development brings several advantages and disadvantages to the plate. People employed in the service sector, i. e. housemaids or cleaning staff in general are needed either way. However, these jobs are becoming less needed for the general public as many time-consuming tasks are now done via machines. With rising minimum wages, these machines usually are cheaper in the long term. Even though, some companies charge a lot for simple devices like vacumes. In example, the company Dyson offers one for the small sum of 500 €. In addition to that, the electricity bills inenevetably will become more expensive due to more technology being used in an average household. On the one hand, expenses and updating said technology seem to be a major factor in this debate. However, on the other hand, most machines are way more reliable. Machines usually perform in similar ways and barely make any mistakes. Most mistakes are rooted in the person operating the machine. Many household tasks like cleaning or doing laundry used to be very time-consuming. Furthermore, many people reported back pain due to the posture one puts themself in while performing said tasks. More and better developed technological devices lead to a decrease in injuries related to these tasks, previously done by hand. Moreover, machines are more economical compared the manual tasks. A dishwasher usually uses less water and energy than doing the dishes by hand. This also results in people having more time for pleasant tasks like reading, or meeting up with their friends. To put it in a nutshell, most newly introduced devices for at-home use improve the standard of living and are more economical in the long run. Electricity bills might be more expensive and the purchase of a household machine could be a little costly, too. However, the reliable work of dishwashers, vacumes and other devices leave the people owning and operating them with more free time and decrease their workload.
