In some countries, such as Indonesia, owning a home rather than renting one is very important of people. Some of the reason for this condition is that sometime owning a home give a sign of prosperity to society. It is some kind of way a child shows his live achievement to his parent or his parent in law. It shows that his economic life is successful enough so that he can buy a house for his family. Buying a house sometime is a way to investing. Some people try to buy a lot of house even tough he or she and their family can only stay and enjoying one house. Making property as a business asset tend to make it’s price higher, and it is bad. Because many people will not be able to own one or even rent one. In some country renting house in lifetime can be cheaper than owning one. But people want give something to their children when they died. Religion teach us to not leave our children with weak condition, for instance in economic condition. But economic stability is not enough. It can be positive and also negative condition. This culture make people try to work their best to get enough money so that they can buy a house. This great productivity will be good for economy. But it can be stressful to for people with disadvantage condition, for example lower wage. Especially in today condition the price of house is soaring high. If today’s person want to have a house with cheaper price, it should be in sub urban or even rural area. It will be so far away to school or workplace. This distance will make more stress because of traffic jam and many other obstacles. Facing this condition, I think the solution is better regulation for house ownership to prevent high price of house. Hongkong is one example how market mechanism make house price worse. Another solution depends on each person. They should be a able to manage their self, their priority, and their budget. Considering Indonesia culture, Buying a house Is a good option, but if their condition is not sufficient to buy a house, renting a house or even live with parent is not bad too, while we try our best to have one. We have to keep being optimistic and happy.
