Many people think that public libraries should only provide books and should not waste their money on expensive hi-tech media, such as softwares, DVDs or videos. Do you agree or disagree?

In a computerized society nowadays, whether technology participates in serving humans in daily life and work has no longer been a strange thing. However, there is a controversy that in lieu of wasting money on providing expensive high-tech media, public libraries should concentrate solely on books. In my point of view, there are convincing arguments against this perspective.
Above all, using high-tech media plays a pivotal role in helping the librarians and staff manage their work more influentially. For a prime example, it’s going to be easier in the classification of a variety of genres of books and managing readers by the use of softwares.
In addition, it is undeniable that technology has the advantage in providing up-to-date information which books can not be compared with. Therefore, due to some antiquated and outdated books, readers might not completely find the exact information if there is not the appearance of high-tech media in the library.
Moreover, high-tech media such as DVDs or videos is totally a perfect form not only for local readers but also for foreigners who do not know the country’s language to acquire the information and knowledge. As it is the acknowledgement by scientists that conveying information illustrated with images and videos is more workable than any other existing ones, people might find it is easier to use high-tech media as a helpful tool in reaching the information they want in place of sorely reading books.
In conclusion, we can not deny a bunch of benefits which technology brings about to humanity so providing only books to readers at the library instead of the addition of technology is unpersuadable. However, the crucial role of the library is to provide books and create opportunities for everyone to read books so high-tech media should be applied with a reasonable quantity rather than be too wasteful.
