Some people say that exams in university are necessary to evaluate and test knowledge that was studied by students but they also bring many negative effects on the students’ mental health and their life. Therefore, I completely agree that it's unnecessary to take an exam at university for two main reasons.
First of all, exams make students feel tired and depressed because exams may test a greater range of skills and have a lot of subjects that are checked at the same time so that all students must spend much time doing homework, revising and cramming a huge amount of knowledge. This leads to the consequences of stress and anxiety during exam preparation, if they can’t release stress, they will get depressed later and not believe or motivate in their life.
Second, exams also will be a burden that changes students’ normal life. Practically, some students have to do part-time jobs to pay the cost of living in some big city that’s not rare because financial family is not enough. Thus, they don’t have much time in a day and usually arrange everything in the most reasonable way. However, during exams, they must use all their free time to revise which could make them exhausted and always in a state of fatigue due to not getting a good rest.
All in all, the examination is unnecessary in university for two main practical reasons that are making students feel depressed and changing their life. Schools should modify the way they evaluate students through the exams and focus on the quality of teaching or achievements of them in the course to check their knowledge.
