In many schools and universities, girls tend to choose arts subjects (eg. languages) and boys choose science subjects (eg. Physics). What do you think are the reasons? Do you think that this tendency should be changed?

Every people in the world have the potential to make beautiful thing, but over the year, there are still place the world has unable to gotten closer to achieving gender equality. While the prejudice make woman to select art and men select sciencein college. For this reason, this phenomenon needs to be changed so that the choice of study is made entirely by the student’s genuine interest. One of the reasons for this trend is that boys are generally more competitive and they choose more challenging and physically demanding courses like science and engineering while girls opt to study less competitive subjects like literature and history. A research of the United States university, proved that science still seen as male profession. In this study, 43% of science majors are women. In the fact that, In developing countries, the majority of girls are still expected to become housewives to take care of the family and the idea of them pursuing a career as a medical doctor or a scientist is not much appreciated. Therefore because of the peer pressure and social influences, many girl choose arts courses just to receive a degree although they might have passion for studying science. According to me, gender-specific personalities and competence need to be respect. Boy and girl have show distinct competence and excellence so they should be entitled to participation in any class that they find suitable and are supported by family to cultivate their aptitudes. We have a story about the boy who have talented in art but his parents want him become a scientist like them. Although, it is difficult to him. After that, he were becoming stressful and decide committed suicide. In other words, they should be at liberty to decide what courses they can attend so that they would feel that they are respected and listened to. In conclusion, every student should choose the subject they love regardless of their gender so that there will be more enthusiastic professionals in both art and science. I belive that this trend will be changed soon.
