Engineering is a very broad field. There are so many types of engineering, that there is bound to be one you find interest in. Since, science and technology are constantly expanding, there will always be new problems to solve-you'll rarely be bored. Unlike other jobs that require you to do the same thing over and over, the work of engineers greatly varies. To begin with, The main preparation that I will learn in becoming an engineer is to prepare is knowledge. Knowledge in Electrical engineering is essential in order for me to become a successful engineer as I am required to be able to identify, study and solve the problem that I encountered in implementing the knowledge that I have gained in college. For example, my experience as a student already proven to me that theoretical knowledge I learned in class like structures and machinery, engineering, circuit theory and software not only important for the exams, but it is also important for me to implement it during my troubleshooting analysis so that machine problem might be solved at the required set of time. The knowledge in the field of Electrical will able to help me in identifying, study and solve the problems I will encounter during work. Furthermore, Engineering is an extremely rewarding yet demanding and challenging career, allowing the opportunity to make a huge difference to individuals and the world. The role of an engineer will help me tackle some of the world’s biggest problems; helping to save lives and create fantastic new technological advancements that can improve the way we live. Engineers are the reason healthcare has improved so dramatically throughout the years. The advancements in medical technology are down to the work conducted by engineers as well as the creation of devices that help to save lives and improve the quality of life for others. New developments are being created by engineers constantly, for example, the Crossrail project in London is creating a new transport system throughout the South East to create shorter journey times and easier connections. The existing transport system wouldn’t be where it is today without engineers. Many people are surprised to discover how much impact engineers have when disasters strike around the world. Engineers use devices like drones to detect and reach survivors. Being an engineer will help build shelters and safe water and waste disposal systems. They use their knowledge to get transport systems back up and running, help to safely demolish and rebuild structures and get water, power and heating systems working. It’s also down to engineers to help warn against future disasters, working on developing early warning and detection systems as well as designing materials to help buildings withstand the effects of such extreme conditions. It’s impossible to say how engineers will continue to impact the future. Engineering jobs are extremely sought after, so it’s exciting to know that new jobs are appearing all the time alongside the increase of new technologies. It’s very easy to overlook the work engineers do throughout the world but it’s obvious to see how they really are at the forefront of technology in all aspects of the world from mobile phones to buildings and major disasters. Therefore, Im being someone who wants to be at the forefront of technology and potentially make a huge difference to lives across the world in a number of different ways, engineering could be the perfect career path for myself.
