It is true that there is often great competition among the countries to organize international sporting events. Many support such occurrences as they believe them advantageous and so they wish their country to host such events; however, a few others state that price involved in hosting these events is not worthwhile. Therefore, ahead of my position, both views would be analyzed. Examining the former viewpoint, the biggest advantage the proponents foresee is that the country would earn good revenue in a short span of time. Due to sporting events, local business and tourism enhance. This generates good capital, which can be used later to fund several public works. All these can be benefited a country in the long run. Besides revenue, such events bring prestige and honor to the host country. An apt illustration of this is Brazil. The country has shot up to fame after the 2016 Olympics, which has resulted in increased tourism and 15 percent GDP growth. However, the supporters of the opposite opinion have their own arguments. The strongest protest they have is against finance. Typically, it can cost several million pounds to build the stadium, Olympic villages, and other related facilities; which later would stand empty. To add to this, there is a fear that these events could catalyze an increase in episodes of crime and other illegal movements. The thought group also believes that holding an international sporting event can disturb the regular trade and commerce in a country which in turn can disturb the economy overall. To conclude and offer my position, I would confidently support the former view than the latter. It is indeed a matter of honor, prestige, and progress for a nation in case it organizes an international sporting event. This can bring long-term as well as short-term events. However, the authorities of the host nations should be ready to fight the challenges.
