COVID-19 is the name given by the World Health Organization on February 11, 2022 for disease caused by the novel coronavirus. It started in Wuhan, China in the last of 2019 but now it has spread all over the world. Meaning of COVID-19 - COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. 'CO' stands for corona, 'VI' stands for virus, and 'D' stands for disease. Where did COVID-19 come from? - COVID-19 is thought to have originated in a seafood market where the wildlife was sold illegally. On February 7, Chinese researchers said that it could have spread from an infected animal to humans. Scientists have pointed to either bats or snakes as possible sources for coronavirus. Symptoms of COVID-19 - COVID-19 affects different people in various ways. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are a fever, coughing and tiredness. The less common symptoms of COVID-19 are headache, sore throat, a rash on skin, loss of taste or smell, aches and pains. The serious symptoms of COVID-19 are difficulty in breathing, chest pain, loss of speech or movement. Prevention of COVID-19 - To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we should do the following cautions -(1) We should clean our hands and we should wash our hands with soap and water. (2) We should wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible. (3) We should not touch our eyes, nose or mouth. (4) We should cover our nose and mouth with a handkerchief when we cough or sneeze. (5) We should stay home if we feel unwell. (6) If we, have a fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, we should seek medical attention. Treatment of Coronavirus at Home - If our symptoms of COVID-19 are mild enough, we can recover at home by doing the following things - (1) Rest - It can make us feel better and may speed our recovery. (2) Stay home - We have to stay home. We should not go to work, school or public places. (3) Drink Fluids - When we are sick, we lose more water. So we should take drink fluids otherwise dehydration can make symptoms worse and cause other health problems. (4) Monitor - If our symptoms get worse, we should call a doctor. But we should not go to his office without calling him first. On average it takes 5 or 6 days to get symptoms when someone is infected with the virus. However it can take up to 14 days. So if we feel sick, we should rest, drink plenty of fluid and eat nutritions food. We should stay in a separated room from other family members.
