Summary:
This project will focus on the improvement of technical faults in the election by arranging TOT and meeting with The Independent High Elections and Referendum Commission (KHEC) Staffs and commissioners and supporting women to have a strong role in the next KRI Parliamentary Election which should be done on 30th Sep 2022, according to the law No 1, 1992, law of KRI Parliamentary Election.
Concerning the KHEC this project will concentrate on those technical problems will happen because of the Election and commission law, KHEC internal system and how to manage result management systems (RMS) also and what is the advantage and dis advantages of of this type of commission.
Also concerning women active role and preparation focus on good preparation for the next election and how to tackle the obstacles in front of them
Background:
In KRI from 1992 until now 5 parliamentary elections have been done and according to the law the 6th round of election has to be done on 30th September 2022, The Independent High Elections and Referendum Commission (KHEC) is responsible to manage the election process.
This project works on two important topics in parallel way, first works on the elimination of the obstacles in front of the election process through building the capacity of KHEC staffs and joint meeting with the commissioners committee also in another way it is obvious the progressing and developing democracy relate to running a pure election and active women role in decision making.
According to the election law in KRI allocated %30 quote of parliament seats for women but according to the electoral system (the proportional representative system) most the female candidates who win the election by their deserve vote will calculate as quote and this need to make advocacy among the women political activists and this project help them to have an impact role in the election process and have a good preparation
Objective:
1- increasing women role and good preparation for the next election and increasing women member in parliament
2- teaching practical tools to help women to tackle the problems in front of them inside their political parties especially focus on the (Onion Tools)
3- increasing KHEC staff knowledge and building their capacity to manage an integrity of election process
Beneficiaries:
The beneficiaries of this project will be
1- 150 KHEC staff member (the commissioners, general directors and managers and ordinary employees) will be benefits in this project
2- 200 women in the political party members in level (leaders committees and organs supervisors)
Activities
1- Arranging six TOTs for the KHEC staffs 25 per each training, three days for each training
2- Arranging 2 joint meeting with the commissioners’ committees and give them the practical manual for managing the election
3- Arranging 8 TOTs for women
