The picture illustrates the detecting process of bioactive secondary metabolites from microorganisms. At first, the microbial natural products are isolated by using some specific methods. They are then preliminary fractured by using liquid extraction. In the next step, primary parasite screening and primary toxicity screening are conducted to test the biological activities of the crude extract. Following that, bioactive compounds are separated from the extract by using the HPLC-MS method. The peaks of the chromatogram are checked and observed for the secondary screening and direct lead identification. Finally, known compounds are dereplicated and novel compounds are isolated and identified.
