Child wellbeing is a predominant part for one’s growth. Maintaining a balance of teaching a difference between right and wrong is a key part of child’s journey, resulting them into a well-behaved teenager. However, in normal course of time many parents try and force the situational learning by punishing their kids which leads to an adverse effect on mind development. My firm belief is that skills can be developed with time and patience and parent’s involvement is the foremost requirement. Hence, I totally disagree with the statement “Punishment is necessary to help them learn the distinction between right and wrong at an early age”.
To help your child grow, setting up a role model can help in shaping the day-to-day task. Also, it should be carried forward in a positive way by not setting the benchmarks to make the child’s learning rigid. At an early age mind of an infant is like a clay which can be shaped in a right figure or can be demolded. A child quickly adapts from the surrounded environment. Any physical punishments will set wrong examples which a child may think that is acceptable in the society and will form part of its personality.
A child should be appreciated for his good acts so that he can himself differentiate between the condition of wrong and right. For any bad behavior a child’s act should be immediately discouraged and corrected in healthy manner which will help them in future to recollect from the last experience. This approach will help parents to build a strong bond between their child and themselves.
At home parents should use friendly way to make their kids learn from own mistake. If a child had disordered things, to keep them aligned with the act parents should ask them to rearrange the same. Any misbehavior with anyone should be corrected by making them realize that their actions have hurt the other person and they should apologize. These are some of the healthy examples which can be followed in normal day learning and can help a child to develop the skills and mindset.
