The two map show the main changes which have taken place in the city of Castellon between the year 2000 and today.
In general, it appears that Castellon has become a much more modern city, with far more public transportation facilities, safety, and entertainment.
One interesting change is that there wasn't any accommodation for the students in the city back in 2000, but now a hall of residence has been built near the university to accommodate them. A new tramline has been constructed, to connect the university with the city center.
Another striking change is that the old market in the west of the city has been demolished to make way for the new shops. A completely covered market has also been built on the east side of the city.
If we look at the port area, it has been pedestrianized since 2000, and a lot of entertainment facilities such as cinema, bars, and clubs have been built for the people of Castellon to enjoy. the northeastern of the city used to be a green area, with lots of trees, but the trees have been cut and a new shopping center has been built. A final interesting development had been the introduction of the bike rental service in the city center.
