Advances in technology and automation have reduced the need for manual labor. Therefore, working hours should be reduced. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

In the high competition era, sophisticated technology and robotics implementation in the production process by a number of companies cause less demand for manpower. It follows that the working hour of labor decreased whereas the production rate still went up continuously. The reason why I completely agree with working through technology or automation will be described in the following paragraph. To begin with, advanced technologies and automation can be used to increase dramatically capability and performance in the operation. For instance, there is a higher rate of production or task achievement rather than human force, especially at the mass-production factory. The greater output both of quality and quantity of product was served with less time spent when compared with operating by the human. As a result, human working hours and workload can be also reduced which leads to better work-life balance and job satisfaction among employees. Moreover, due to the theory of hierarchy control in safety issues, technology or engineering method is one of the countermeasures to prevent any incident which occurred by human error. It can be seen that heavy industries, such as the automotive, printing industry, or others, would utilize machines that under controlled by computerization in the risky job instead of labor used directly. That is to say that the broken part of the machine can be fixed easier than part of the body or part of the body has no spare to replace it anymore. In conclusion, adopting modern technology can deliver a rising in productivity in a wide range of industries. It not only increases the level of quality and safety but also decreases working hours at the workplace.
