The graph compares which of the four most common transportation methods used while transferring products, between the years 1974 to 2002 in million tonnes.
If we take a close at the graph, although it has ups and downs throughout those years it still managed to pass its closest alternative which is water mode, with almost 10 million tonnes in when they were nearest to each other in the year 1982.
When we examine the water ways, after a slight increase to approximately 60 million tonnes it remains the same until 1992 than a after a goes town by 10 million tonnes it climbs up to 70 million tonnes.
Rail ways’ trends behave like the roads except it is 30 million tonnes less than the road and even they increased at the same time roads numbers goes up much quicker than railways.
Lastly, pipeline has the most stable trend apart from the two times that it increases in two different year gaps which are 1978 to 1981 and 1992 to 1995.
To sum up, we can instantly see that main trend of all of modes of transportation is to go up and three of them peaked at the year 2002 except pipeline stood still after the year 1994.
