Some people trust their first impressions about a person’s character because they believe these judgments are generally correct. Other people do not judge a person’s character quickly because they believe first impressions are often wrong. Compare these two attitudes. Which attitude do you agree with?

The idea that making an accurate judgment of someone based on their initial impression is reliable is frequently debatable. For the reasons listed below, I personally think that characters cannot be fully comprehended after their initial encounter. While some individuals hold a belief that making an accurate judgment of those based on their initial impression is reliable, the antagonists oppose this assumption due to lack of deeper evaluation into personality traits. From my perspective, I am of the conviction that individual characters cannot be fully understood at first glance for the following reasons. On the one hand, it is undeniable that abundant individuals form lucrative or long-term relationships with the one they encounter for the first time. As a clear example, students unbeknown to their peers can easily hit it off or even enter into a long-lasting relationship regardless of not having a truly deep insight into each other, especially those in the same clubs or campaigns. In other words, the initial impression has such a profound effect on people's sense of some sort of emotional connection. Therefore, countless individuals feel deserved to act on their instinct as those first impressions are somehow a plausible tool to locate a suitable community sharing the same interest or connection with them. On the other hand, initial impressions do not always constitute a perfect assessment of personal traits as a person's genuine nature can be revealed after a long period of communication. Moreover, relationships formed by the first sight frequently end up in a chaotic shock on account of the incorrectness shown to be untrue to their initial beliefs. Furthermore, initial impressions also become a potential source of misleading judgments to others as aloofness or friendliness depends on the actual feelings which may contrast with their regular behaviors. In some particular senses, making an assessment of one’s personality just for his appearance or the way he acts somehow results in false judgments. Thus, in order to avoid making a mistaken evaluation of others, repeated interactions are necessary for thorough character understanding. Having taken everything into consideration, despite the fact that first impressions are sometimes the reliable way to judge a person, it often leads to a destructive relationship when challenged by unexpected situations. Personally, I assume that individuals should be held accountable for passing appropriate judgment while using initial impressions as a guide.
