Some people say that we no longer need printed newspaper, LLn
In recent years, electronic books become very popular, some people argue that the printed newspaper will be longer needed. To my point of view, I strongly disagree with this opinion because there are still a lot of gains of the printed newspaper for both buyers and sellers.
On the one hand, in the perspective of the buyer, there is still a large percentage of consumers that chose to purchase printed newspaper everyday, especially for the elders. Many of the older people who born in silent generation or baby boomers are very difficult to utilize the electronic devices. Printed newspaper is the only option for them and has become a long-term habit. Moreover, many parents encourage their younger kids to read printed newspaper, instead of the e-book due to harm of technology addiction. It’s obvious that the portion of the time that spent in technology has been greatly increasing among younger generation in these years. As the new parents noticed this negative effects, they would like their kids to feel the joy of printed readings. Therefore, the replacement of the printed newspaper will hinder the desires of some older and younger people.
On the other hand, standing on the seller side, the elimination of the printed newspaper will lead to higher unemployment rate. Without any doubt, there is a production chain of printed newspaper, from the writer, then publication companies and printing companies, and to the newspaper retailers at the end. If the market is no longer existed the printed newspaper, all of the employees in this value chain will lose their jobs. Thus, it might cause a serious economic issue if the printed newspaper is completely disappeared.
In conclusion, considering the needs of elders, new parents and printed newspaper sellers, the printed newspaper cannot be ejected. There are still many benefits of the printed newspaper in the market.
