Should religion be taught at school?
Should religion be taught at school? l2o
Religion is one of the main characteristics of every country around the world. One of the main concernes of parents is that religious topics should be considered at school or not. In my opinion, religion is a personal choice and should be kept within families rather than teaching at school.
Religion is a personal matter and people should have freedom to practice it or not. This is because when governments insist on teaching certain religion at school, this devastes the freedom of people, which is one of the main characters of democratic and developed societies. For example, in some middle estern countries, religious topics are as important as science and mathematics, and it is part of mandatory curriculum of schools. While this is acceptable for some children, others may be offended because there is possbility that some students are practicing the minority religious at home or they are not interested in learning any religion.
Families should take more responsibility in teaching their religion to their children. In every family, religion is inherited from one generation to another. There are many rituals within every family that become part of their identity, so parents tend to preserve their religious beliefs and transfer it to thier children. Moreover, children usually follow their parents, as a result they could monitor their children more closely. This reinforce families to teach their religion to their child, without any concerns about opposition from society or government.
To conclude, religion shoud be taught at home and within families because this leads to more freedom and satisfaction in society.
