Having evolved from the original models, such as the Portland Pattern Repository, wikis first went through a phase of software exploration until around 1999. From 2000 to 2005, there was a succession of attempts in the "French-speaking Terrewiki", or wikisphere11, each of which brought its own innovations. The Crao Wiki server appeared in 2003, and took on the task of listing current uses of wikis and defining standards. This activity will continue essentially until 2007, with the two other "wikis on the wiki": MeatBall Wiki (en) and Community Wiki. This hybrid work of observation and definition of norms will notably give rise to historical reviews of the history of the French-speaking wikisphere, or to a polemic on the social value of the wiki tool and what can be expected from it, one of the major contributors of the time having established ten points12 by which the wiki tool fails to achieve its goal, a criticism that remains in many ways relevant since then. A thesis by Emmanuel Ruzé takes up these considerations and others applied to the WordPress user community (this is the title of the work)13. From 2007 onwards, the need to define wiki standards seems to become less relevant due to a relative standardization of practices. Wikis seem to be more scattered in their zoology, especially since the modes of collaborative editing have evolved in the meantime. Human functioning When a page is modified, the regular contributors who follow the evolution of this page can check and, if necessary, correct or complete the modification made. This way, vandalism, spam and various hijackings can be quickly detected and reversed. The software has various functions and a system for managing the rights to use these functions.
