Many people believe that social networking sites [such as Face book] have had a huge negative impact on both individuals and society. To what extend do you agree?

It is believed by many that social networking sites for instance the Facbook from its inception has had a detrimental effect on individual people, society and local communities. This is quite true to a large extend because such sites while providing seeming happiness are in fact the main reason for depression and a feeling of hollowness in society.

Facebook is mainly a make believe world where people post happy pictures of some made up occasion giving others the impression that they are forever happy and enjoying life, which in reality could be the other way round. Innocent people on facebook get demotivated and frustrated thinking that everybody around them is leading a perfect life except them. They either slip into depression or try to fake as much as the others jeopardizing their simplicity and innocence.

In line with what happens to individuals the society too is getting more corrupt and deceptive because of the damaging effects of such social sites. A lot of unknown people become your friends on facebook and most relationships end up in crimes. For example it’s possible for you to post any snap of yourself and try to hoodwink a young girl to be your lover. Such crimes are very common in societies these days. Apart from this the society is also getting to be more drab and digital forgetting to talk face to face with neighbours and friends.

In conclusion social networking sites like facebook though help people to have a wide circle of friends and relatives on a common platform ultimately have an adverse effect on people and society because most of relationships there are feigned
