Many elderly people are no longer looked after by their families but are put in care homes or nursing homes. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?

Most aged people are left in nursing homes or care homes by their relatives nowadays. There are different downsides and benefits to this phenomenon which will be mentioned in this thesis.
On the minus side, keeping old people in caring organizations have various adverse effects. First and foremost, any person intrinsically tends to live their life with their own relatives, so when they are kept apart, depression is a natural consequence that might lead to a decrease in their life expectancy. Moreover, the absence of grandparents may result in an imbalanced state of families which has some side effects especially on young members who will be deprived of growing with these key roles of family. For example, a statistical study on suicide in Japan has shown that the possibility of self-murdering in families who keep their aged people is 30 percent less compared to the ones who have passed their elderlies.
On the plus side, keeping elderlies in care homes still can be a good option in some cases. Since people’s job is dominating their life more and more in modern time, most of the adults have not enough time to allocate to their aged members of the family and consequently, this might leads to a sense of loneliness and sadness. In this case, an aged care institute could be a better place as they will be attended by friends with the same age range and taken good care of with a proper daily schedule. For example, rest homes in Norway follow high levels of human living standards in order to keep their residents healthy, happy and satisfied with daily life through performing various plans based on habitants needs for life and due to this, Norway has the happiest population of aged people claimed by a study in 2019.
To conclude, while leaving grandparents in care homes will be resulted in various negative effects, on some occasions it is a better choice to hand the responsibility for the care them over to the related institutions.
