As we have seen, to promote the development of era, there is no doubt that technology can be a decisive factor. However, with the advent of more and more inventions, tongues are wagging over the impact made by these inventions. Can all these freshly-minted technologies be conducive to simplify people’s lives? By taking a closer look, today technology has advanced to the point where I am convinced that high-techs enable people’s lives to be more complicated instead of convenience. The first reason is that operating emerging technology confuses people especially the old and technology illiterates. Put another way, how to operate technical apparatuses can be a large obstacle to people. Take my friend Emily as an example, she is a totally technology illiterate which means that she is completely clueless about computers. It didn’t have a negative impact on her when she was in primary school and middle school since the computers haven’t caught on. But, when attending the university, it occurred because most of the courses require students to preview or study on the computer instead of classroom. Every time it took her twice as long time to accomplish tasks online than offline since she couldn’t master the methods thoroughly taking a toll on her study. In the course of time, she lagged behind. Even worse, once my old grandma couldn’t be allowed to get on the bus because the bus can’t be paid by cash but e-pay, which makes her daily traveling more complex than before. Secondly, technology designed to facilitate the development of public contrarily burden too much unnecessary pressures on people. Even if you specialize in learning freshly-minted techniques, those intricate process can still bother you. For instance, last weekend, my parents and I went to the Central Park to enjoy the maple leaves. What surprised us is that the ticket office was closed. Instead, tourists had to install the official app of the park and make a reservation online, which brought a lot troubles to us to a large extent. In the fact, traveling the park used to be a breeze as long as you buy tickets from the tickets office. Naturally, this kind of solution diminishes the time on waiting in line. However, the complex processes of operating the app such as installing, registering, logging and so on cost much more time and energy than before. To be honest, I wasn’t a technology illiterate but the new app still drove me crazy and made me worn-out let alone the old. From what I have said above, technology invented to make public handy actually put a vast strain on users. Compared with before, we need to pay more energy and time on learning and operating these technology which makes public bump against dilemma. Although the situation now isn’t expected, I believe one day technology can practically serve human beings.
